[Coach Carlesi–Facebook] Just a follow up to Matt Hahn’s last post, tonight the PEGLEGS won their 10th game of the season over Bryant HS 2-1. This was not a pretty offensive game. Mike Gillow supplied the game walkoff hit, a triple, that scored Jeremy Rubin from 1st base. Jared Asch again was spectacular on the mound pitching 7 1/3 innings striking 11 Bryant hitters. Matthew Deutsch came in relief and picked up the win. The Peglegs are now 10-5 in league play and are hoping to end the season Saturday with a suspended game vs John Bowne. This game will be played at Lafayette HS in Brooklyn. Start time is 9am. Congrats boys!!! You deserve it. [Adapted from GameChanger] Gillow’s Walk-Off Picture Perfect Ending In Stuyvesant PEGLEGS Varsity’s Victory Over William C. Bryant A walk-off triple led Stuyvesant past William C. Bryant 2-1 on Thursday. The game was tied at one with Stuyvesant batting in the bottom of the ninth when Michael Gillow tripled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. The pitching was strong on both sides. Stuyvesant pitchers struck out 13, while William C. Bryant pitchers sat down seven. In the top of the sixth inning, William C. Bryant tied things up at one. Gomez drove in one when he singled. Jared Asch was on the pitcher’s mound for Stuyvesant. He lasted seven and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out 11 and walking zero. Rosario toed the rubber for William C. Bryant. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out four. Admir Ramusevic threw two and two-thirds innings in relief. Stuyvesant totaled six hits in the game. Max Onderdonk, Gillow, and Cooper Nissenbaum each collected multiple hits. Nissenbaum, Gillow, and Onderdonk all had two hits, and Stuyvesant didn’t commit a single error in the field. Jeremy Rubin had the most chances in the field with 15. Stuyvesant Varsity tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Onderdonk led the way with three. William C. Bryant tallied eight hits in the game.
